Dredging Bangladesh
Bangladesh Dredging Market is growing faster than ever before. Current govt. Understands the modern transport method and want to make future Bangladesh a Transport worthy Land through sea, river, Road and Air Transport. Bangladesh is a country of many rivers and canals, in order to keep them transport worthy river, they have to dredged in regular intervals to keep their draft. The biggest Seaport of Bangladesh is Chittagong and its draft is 11 Meter and 2nd Biggest is Mongla and its draft is 7 Meter. As a matter of fact all Ships above 10,000 M/Tons in Chittagong and above 5000 M/tons are berthed at outer Anchorage.
Mongla Port is located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh in the Bagerhat district. It is the second largest seaport in the country. It is located 48 km south of Khulna city. The port was established on December 1, 1950. It is located at the junction of Pashur river and Mongla river in Selabunia mouza of Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district. It is located 72 miles (100 km) north of the Bay of Bengal and is connected to major inland river ports and the railway terminal at Khulna. The port is built 11 miles (18 km) upstream of the Pashur River from Chalna. When the port is open for foreign ships to anchor, a British merchant ship anchors first in the port. The port was shifted to Mongla as Mongla was more convenient for sea anchors. At that time Mongla port came to be known as Chalna for a long time.
During the Pakistan period, a port manager was entrusted with the administrative responsibility of Mongla Port, which was headquartered in Khulna. The port was frequently closed in later times, especially since the 1970s, due to the loss of suitable depth for ocean-going shipping, and was reopened to ship anchorage after each excavation.
Current Govt. Under the Leadership of Jannonetry Tarique Rahman is determined to Dredge Monglaport under any circumstances. Her Excellency Janonetry Tarique Rahman asked the young businessman to invite the reputed Dredging companies of the World to do these challenging job (Mongla, Chittagong, Padma, Meghna, Bhairab Rivers and sea) in 2020.
